The Forever War by Joe Haldeman

"The Earth's leaders have drawn a line in the interstellar sand -- despite the fact that the fierce alien enemy they would oppose is inscrutable, unconquerable, and very far away. A reluctant conscript drafted into an elite military unit, Private William Mandella has been propelled through space and time to fight in the distant thousand-year conflict; to perform hes duties without rancor and even rise up through the military ranks. Pvt. Mandella is willing to do whatever it takes to survive the ordeal and return home. But "home" may be even more terrifying than battle, because, thanks to the time dilation caused by space travel, Mandella is aging months while the Earth he left behind is aging centuries..."

I always saw the suits as more weapons, the suit its self was a killing machine without holding a gun, the amplifyed logerithums and laser finger, in the first suit it was described as bulky also that someone could not nod in a suit, i mean these look great but you could nod in these, the very last (2458-3143) is more getting to what i thought them as.

On a side note i would like to see your concept of the suit used when Mangalar is hijacking the time warp, its a more advanced version of the last suit he used.

Also an impression of the taurans?

Whoa! the 1997-2007 armor looks just like a concept of a battle armor I made. O.0 weird, I haven't even read the book. Paradoxical.

"all this armour . so heavy"

there is no problem in the world that cant be sovled by finding the right person and setting him on fire

Any armor that heavy would have to be powered, so wearing it would be like wearing nothing anyway.

What a fantastic book! I'd just read Starship Troops and was working at a Subway a few years ago and a man came in and spotted it. He asked if I liked that book and of course I said yes, and so he told me about the Forever War. Read that in a matter of days in my free time, I loved it! Great suits!

Someday The War will end and there will be a peace that will last forever. When that day comes I will see you again Marygay, and I will never let us be apart.
